have video games gotten too violent?

there was an article:
“Daniel Petric shot his parents-killing his mother-because they wouldn’t let him play the violent video game Halo 3, prosecutors told a judge at the boys murder trial.”

Human beings are inherently violent. It’s not video games that do this, it’s just our nature. Horror movies, action films, etc. — none of what our (western) society has done or is doing is new. Think about the Colosseum of Rome where they used to have gladiator fights where people would die in front of an audience (now I’d say that *that* is more violent than a video game).
